CURRENT WHARE
Te Kōhanga Reo o Ngā Mokopuna is currently situated in Coutts St, Kilbirnie – next door to Rongotai College. The Kōhanga will soon begin a new building project, which will see the Kōhanga moving from its current whare to the Kura Kaupapa o Ngā Mokopuna site in Seatoun [previously the site of Seatoun School].
The current whare comprises 3 ruma tākaro (playrooms), a wharekai (kitchen/dining room) and a sleeping room for Mokopuna. There is a large wharepaku with a baby changing area. Outside there is a courtyard play area at the front of the whare, and a grassy play area at the rear which also has a shaded sandpit and a vegetable garden.
The internal walls feature lots of examples of the Tamariki/ Mokopuna artworks and photographs showing their curriculum learning. As we head into Matariki the whare is being transformed with our Tamariki/ Mokopuna interpretation of this celestial season.

PROPOSED NEW WHARE
The proposed building is in planning and fundraising stages. Our whānau expect planning approval this year for a start and completion of the new building in 2010. We will update this page with plans of the new building and fundraising progress reports.
